145th Open Championship

July 2016

The 145th Open Championship takes place at Royal Troon Golf Club this week.  Lee's best ever finish was 2nd in 2000 and he finished T49th at St Andrews last year.

On Tuesday, son, Sam Westwood was Lee's caddie for his practice round.

Lee had a 13.26 tee-time from the 1st on Thursday with Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els. He was 3-over par at the 10th but finished level par for the day following a birdie at 12 and an eagle at 16.

He had an 8.25 start on Friday and playing in windy, rainy weather, carded a 2 over 73 and lies in T50th place.

Following his third round of 73 he was asked, "Are you satisfied with the way you played this week?"
Lee replied "No, I played crap. I've hit the ball poorly, so that's why I'm 4-over par".

"I think you can get it going on the way out. I think it's very scorable on the way out. I think the back nine is still scorable, if you think a score of 35 is good, which it is. I think they've not been silly with the flags. They're very fair. The golf course has set up well. They've moved tees up, especially on 11 comes to mind. Only hit a driver and a 7-iron there. So if you play well, there's a low one out there"

Lee (T43rd) had a final tee-time of 10.55 with Luke Donald. After signing for a 68, he finished T22nd on 1-over par, earning €60,828 in prize money.
